A doctor's story built on dedication
Dr. Swati Agarwal's path in medicine was shaped by a conviction that every patient deserves the same quality of care regardless of where they seek it. Born and raised in Kolkata, she pursued ophthalmology at one of India's most prestigious institutions — the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO), Kolkata — where she graduated with the Gold Medal, the highest academic distinction in the programme.
Her post-graduation fellowship at Vasan Eye Care deepened her surgical expertise, exposing her to high-volume cataract and refractive surgery alongside some of India's leading vitreoretinal and cornea specialists.
In 2009, she established The Eye Clinic at Kankurgachi — a deliberate choice to bring subspecialty-level eye care to North Kolkata's residents, who had historically needed to travel to large hospitals in South Kolkata or the city centre for comprehensive ophthalmological services.
Over fifteen years and more than 20,000 surgeries, The Eye Clinic has grown into a trusted institution — not through advertising, but through outcomes, personal care, and the quiet word-of-mouth that follows a surgeon who genuinely cares about every patient who sits across from her.
